Author Visit: Dave Rudden visits 1st Years

Dave Rudden has written a trilogy about an orphan who turns out to have extraordinary magical powers. No, not Harry Potter, his name is Denizen Hardwick, a 13 year old who has grown up in an orphanage reading fantasy books and wondering about his parents. He is summoned to meet a mysterious aunt and is drawn into a fantastic adventure in which his aunt leads a secret organisation of knights dedicated to fighting magical creatures of darkness.

If you like Percy Jackson, Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl or any action packed fantasy book then you must read these books.

So far, the first book ‘Knights of the Borrowed Dark’ was the

  • Winner of the Irish Book Awards 2016 Children’s Book of the Year (Senior)
  • Selected chosen book for the 2017 Citywide Reading Campaign for Children as part of the Dublin UNESCO City of Literature programme

‘The Forever Court’ is

  • Shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards 2016 Children’s Book of the Year (Senior)

The final book of the trilogy will be published in 2018.
