What did Mount Anville read this term?

Christmas break is finally here. It's time to wrap up and reflect on this past term... and what better what to do it if not through books?

Since September, the students at Mount Anville read 1003 books. You did amazing, girls, this is really impressive! Here is a breakdown of the most well-loved reads of 2025.

Whole School

Jenny Han takes the crown as Most Read Author in the entire school. Her debut novel The Summer I Turned Pretty (2009) nearly won first place for Most Read Book, if not for John Steinbeck's American classic Of Mice and Men (1937), which our 2Y students really seem to love. Overall, Mount Anville students love to escape in exciting books, with adventure being voted Most Read Genre this term.

1Y Classes

Confirming whole-school trends, Jenny Han and The Summer I Turn Prettywin again amongst first-year students. However, our youngest really seem to love a good murder, with mystery taking the crown for our Genre category!

2Y Classes

Our second-year students might be the most influential at Mount Anville. They single-handedly made John Steinbeck the Most Read Author, not just for their year group, but for the whole school! Of course, Of Mice and Men takes first place in their Book category. Nevertheless, our 2Y students are hopeless romantics. Romance was the Most Read Genre among them!

3Y Classes

The 3Ys surprise us once more, with Jenny Han and her novel The Summer I Turned Prettywinning by a whisker in the first two categories. But despite such hopeful stories being popular among them, our third-year students mainly lose themselves in Dystopian literature! How many of you would volunteer as a tribute to save a loved one?

TY Classes

Much like our second-year students, our TYs love a good Romance novel. Stephanie Meyer's Twilight (2005) was their Most Read Book this term -- how long have you been 17? But Chloe Walsh takes the cake for Most Read Author... very popular amongst our 2Ys too!
